Re: Stop Executions in Iran

I am writing to condemn the execution of political prisoners by the Islamic Republic of Iran. On January 28, 2010 the government of Iran executed two political prisoners, Mohammad Reza Ali-Zamani and Arash Rahmanipour, and there are 9 more protesters in imminent risk of execution. The government announced that 5 of the protesters will be
hanged in public in Tehran. Here is a list of 59 names of political prisoners on death row:

http://persian2english.com/?p=5778

Mohammad Reza Ali-Zamani and Arash Rahmanipour were unjustly convicted, hanged, and their self incriminating confessions were been made under torture. More than five thousand people were arrested after the anti-government demonstrations since June 2009 and they have all undergone torture and ill treatment.

Further anti-government demonstrations are to take place on the anniversary of the Islamic Republic on 11 February, and I am extremely worried about the safety of the demonstrators in Iran.

I demand the unconditional and immediate halt to all death sentences in Iran and the freedom of all detained dissidents and political prisoners. Any Iranian government must act in accordance with international law, and fulfill their responsibility of protecting the human rights and civil liberties of all its people and minorities.

Sincerely,

your name
